Get a booth facing the bay, order the shaking beef and a singapore sling, go home happy. Don't neglect a Vietnamese coffee for dessert (condensed milk + strong coffee)

Some of the best meals that Corinne and I have had in San Francisco have been here. Just might be worth to extend your stay to lunch or dinner at the Slanted Door! Don't miss the chicken clay pot!

Great place for visitors, as this place has excellent food, right on the Bay. The shaking beef is delicious, but ask your waiter for recommendations - too many to list here.

Amazing view of the Bay Bridge. Arrive early and watch the ferries go in and out of the harbor. If you're adventurous, take the ferry to Sausalito.

Vietnamese dishes with a touch of American modernity. Certainly good but doesn't match the authenticity of Vietnam's stalls, markets and eateries.

THE place for Vietnamese. The emphasis is on fresh and organic ingredients. For a quick fix, you can also pick up food to-go at their counter in the Ferry Building marketplace.

The move here, one I make on practically every San Francisco visit, is the late lunch c. 215pm when the bar has cleared out and the sunlight shifts. Chicken claypot did the trick this time. Next?
